In God’s Hands

This morning we laid Jane in the hands of God and the surgical team. They took her to the OR about 7:45am. The procedure should last about 6 hours. We will get updates along the way. The surgeon, Dr. Retty, will be repairing 3 parts of the heart: 1) closing off the pulmonary valve, 2) placing a shunt to re-direct blood flow to the lungs, and 3) sewing up the right atrium to make it smaller to allow the lungs to develop a bit more. While he is in her chest if he sees anything else worth repairing he will do any additional work. Dr. Retty told us that this is the first of three surgeries that Jane will need. This first surgery is the most critical and high risk, BUT when she gets through it the next two will be pretty solid, according the Dr. Retty. One day at a time, though.

So, now we wait for our little girl…

Feta, you and Daniel are truly now in an “anxiety” mode, probably more than days past. But… you have stepped every inch of the way correctly – relying on God. I know that that is all that you know what to do. You placed Jane into God’s hand, and now you wait for your little precious blessing from God, your Dochka – Jane.

I have my bible open this morning & reading Psalms 130. It is a prayer that we commonly pray & it came to mind as I think of you. 5th verse: “I wait for the Lord, my soul waits and in His Word, I hope”

And then it brings to mind the chapter of Isaiah from where we sing the song “Uteshai Uteshai Narod Moi” and in the 31st verse God says thru Isaiah “but… they who wait on the Lord shall be strengthened, they shall mount up with wings like eagles and they shall run & not be weary, they shall walk & not be faint”

    And I say “Finally…

May we continue to join with you in prayer as we wait for your dochka. Just as the prayer that you shared with us on your behalf, continue to be compassionate unto the needs of others!

1st Peter 3:8 … be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous.”

As I started in prayer this morning for your family and Jane’s successful surgery, I could think of nothing but the love that everybody has shown to your family. You are feeling God’s pure love through living witnesses that God is love! I have to share a common scripture with you.
    1John 3:1-3
Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.
Beloved, now we are children of God: and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.
And everyone who has this hope in HIm purifies himself, just as He is pure.
    Love in Christ,
    David Pavloff

    Hi Elizabeth and Daniel
You may not know me but I know you and all about baby Jane. I began praying for her before she was born as I am a children’s leader in CBS with your mom. Despite having the same name (although I told your mom you spelled her name wrong – she needs a “y” like my name!), I also have an interest as I was a NICU nurse at UCI years ago and never have forgotten those amazing tiny babies that bless so many people. In addition, I love working with your mom and can see the love she has for her family and wanted to support her and all of you with my prayers.
Today in our leaders class at CBS, there were 38 women praying for your family, the surgeons, and especially Baby Jane. I haven’t heard what the out come is from the surgury, but you can be sure God was busy today as the prayers and love poured out for you and your precious little baby girl.
Your strenth and faith have been a wittness to many as you journal through this difficult time. I pray you will be able to inspire many more people who walk through this journey with you and praise God for the lessons he is teaching all of us as we trust in HIM!
May God Bless You and your family always.
    Sincerely,
    Jaye Laughlin

I, too, share her name (sort of) and also, my oldest daughter’s name is Elizabeth. I would like to offer my prayers for your little girl. God be with all of you in her time of need.
